Sophia + Stephen Kiec // May 25th, 2019

South Lake Tahoe, California

I met Sophia and Stephen at my favorite coffee spot, Clydes Coffee, not far from their desired venue on a chilly December Saturday. We had only exchanged emails before then, as they live in Texas and were only in Tahoe visiting. We ordered, grabbed a table and talked for a long time about everything they wanted out of their big day and how I could help them achieve that. They had their eye on Tahoe Blue Estate, a beautiful Air BnB overlooking all of Lake Tahoe. Naturally, we walked the venue together and all of us fell in love.

With the help of her her friends and family, Sophia did all of her own florals and decor. Everyone got dressed and ready at the Tahoe Blue Estate. Sophia's talented father did her hair and Stephen's hair. Sophia didn't have a veil, but a beautiful, custom cape and a wide brimmed hat. Her style is so unique and it showed that day.

The Vista

Sophia had her step dad walk her to her dad, who then walked her the rest of the way down the isle. This was such a special way to honor both of the father figures in her life. Her grandmother read a beautiful piece about love and the future, bringing everyone to tears. They said "I do" and promised forever on the most beautiful Lake Tahoe vista in the world.

The Love Party

They danced with each other, with their parents, and with their closest friends. They wore their Aggie Pride loudly and proudly. Sophia almost didn't do a garter toss, but quickly changed her mind when someone suggested putting a Smirnoff Ice under her dress and "Icing" Stephen. The Ice was open under her dress so Stephen spilled it then chugged it. Smirnoff Ice was everywhere and it was hilarious. Their love party was unapologetically them and it was soooo much fun.

I got to steal them from their party for a few minutes. They got a moment alone and I got the dreamiest photos of their love and their new marriage.

Day After Adventure // Emerald Bay State Park + D.L. Bliss State Park

I purposely include a free Adventure Session with my Sweven, Meraki and Fernweh packages. A lot of times this gives me the opportunity to get to know my couples behind the camera before the jitters and emotions of their wedding day. However, Sophia and Stephen live in Texas, so the free session was a bit hard to implement. What we did instead was pure magic...

The day after their wedding, I drove back up to South Lake Tahoe and I stole them for some time alone. See, no matter what kind of wedding you have, you're going to be catering to those who spent time and money to come celebrate you. While that is amazing and so fun, you rarely get any alone time with your partner, which can sometimes be overwhelming. A day after session really gives you time to just... be... you guys. I get to capture your intimacy and newly married emotions -- it's incredible. I learned how valuable and amazing this kind of session is with Sophia and Stephen.

Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Kiec!
